Job Description

Overview

The primary responsibilities of this position are to identify and evaluate potential suppliers of steel, decking, supplies and hardware as well as all work associated with purchasing items in support of our production schedule and within our budget requirements.  This includes product as well as third party service suppliers.  Oversee receiving and proper inspection of incoming material.  Enter purchase order information in ERP system and utilize material planning information within the ERP. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and purchase the most cost effective inventory and non-inventory components, supplies, tools, etc. that are required to support the production schedule.  This includes coordinating all outside services with our suppliers, freight carriers and production personnel.
  • Oversee the receiving and inspection of raw materials per engineering requirements and enter information into company ERP system.
  • Document and notify Materials Manager and/or Material Planner of discrepant material that was found during incoming receiving process and develop solution.
  • Accurately record pertinent information into company electronic database.  Utilize Excel and ERP information to analyze purchasing information as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Education:  High School Diploma
  • Secondary education:  Associate or Bachelor‘s in Business, Finance, etc. or related and relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment as a purchasing agent/buyer procuring inventory and non-inventory items, MRO items, production tools, 3rd party contractors, etc
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, etc.) and have experience operating within an ERP software package.
  • Strong problem solving skills, critical thinking and detail orientation.  Successful candidates will have demonstrated the ability to juggle multiple tasks in the past. 

 

Specific Skills:

  • 2+ years working in a manufacturing environment and ERP systems is required.
  • Experience purchasing inventory, non-inventory and supplies to support the production schedule is required.  MRO experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, juggle multiple tasks and remain flexible.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills are required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings/ specifications is a plus.
  • Experience with steel products, ERP system development or 3rd party suppliers a plus

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Work in a heavy steel fabrication environment (i.e. fluids, noise & dust).
  • Office environment but inventory is outdoors (inclement weather).
  • Lift 25-50 lbs occasionally.
  • Bend, stoop, crouch and occasionally work in confined spaces

Field Artillery Surveyor/Meteorological Crewmembers are part of an artillery team that fires large ammunition or missiles to support infantry and tank units in combat. Specific duties in this position include monitoring weather conditions and patterns, as well as providing firing position data, schematic sketches, and astronomic observations so units can fire and launch missiles accurately. Crewmembers also operate and perform maintenance on survey/meteorological equipment, vehicles, and weapons.
