Description
CSC is seeking an Enterprise Strategic Architect (ESA) to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) at Schriever AFB, near Colorado Springs, Colorado. The ESA evaluates user requirements, emerging technology, engineering and business trends to recommend future direction for IT Services.
The ESA also works across every level of the organization to solicit strategic imperatives from senior leaders and executives, and to support Service Line Managers as they leverage enterprise architecture artifacts to create business plans. The ideal candidate will have a Masters Degree and over 20 years applicable experience.
A current CISSP is REQUIRED and the candidate must possess or be able to obtain a DOD TOP SECRET clearance prior to beginning work.
Essential Job Functions
- Oversees all aspects of solution development, architecture and management processes from concept ideation through development, launch and maintenance. Interfaces with development, account and executive management to develop and grow their portfolio of solutions and offerings and to increase company productivity and profits.
- Promotes use of strategic solutions and offerings by the business development community and provides support to sales/proposal teams during the launch phase of the life cycle. Participates in solution selling activities to ensure that marketing plans align with sales and launch plans.
- Provides leadership and strategic guidance during the solution development process to ensure bridging of the gap between business problem faced by client and benefits available from company solutions and services. Translates customer requirements into operational strategies associated with each solution and offering to ensure client needs are met in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Researches existing business environment including trends, best practices and company preferred architectural frameworks and alliances to ensure company services match business trends. Suggests appropriate upgrades or relevant solutions to enhance company competency in meeting changing business needs.
- Interfaces and participates in business development discussions across cross-functional teams and internal and external executive managements to ensure consistency in solution development and implementation.
- Facilitates reduced risks to client and company; manages solution profits and losses; participates in solution business plan creation; monitors solution financial performance against plan; assists in preparing financial models to ensure that client interests are met.
- Identifies business requirements; evaluates concepts such as market timing, compelling event and problem identification to ensure that delivered solutions meet both short and long-term company and client business performance expectations.
- Provides input into the CIOs governance cycle for the funding, oversight and realization of IT projects to help ensure that IT projects support the achievement of CIO goals.
- Develops an enterprise architecture strategy for the JRDC IT Services Director based on awareness of various business scenarios and motivations and will apply a structured enterprise architecture approach for capturing the key views of the lines of business in the context of the enterprise.
- Visualizes and creates high-level models (rigorous information-rich diagrams) that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the enterprise IT architecture.

The ESA Supports development of relevant artifacts that document the enterprise architecture. This position is in support of the JRDC program at SAFB, CO.
- The ESA works closely with other enterprise architects and counterparts in IT Services.
- The ESA may have supervisory responsibility, possibly acting as coach and mentor to colleagues in a similar or reporting role.
- In addition, the ESA works across every level of the organization to solicit strategic imperatives from senior leaders and executives, and to support Service Line Managers as they leverage enterprise architecture artifacts to create business plans.
- The ESA may provide direct input into the CIOs governance cycle for the funding, oversight and realization of IT projects to help ensure that IT projects support the achievement of CIO goals.
- The ESA will develop an enterprise architecture strategy for the JRDC IT Services Director based on awareness of various business scenarios and motivations and will apply a structured enterprise architecture approach for capturing the key views of the lines of business in the context of the enterprise.
- The ESA will capture the tactical and strategic goals that provide traceability through the organization and are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance.
Qualification
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelors degree in business administration, computer science, information technology or related field preferred
- Nine or more years of business solutions experience
- Experience working with company products and services, business processes and re-engineering
- Experience working with business environment, business industry and competitor products and services
- Experience working with appropriate programming languages, operating systems, product-line hardware and software
- Experience working with office productivity tools; delivery assurance and/or industry standards on deliverables
- Experience working with administrative and/or workflow systems

- Must be knowledgeable of IT disciplines and industry trends pertinent to the IT Architecture and be able to demonstrate and articulate the efficiency and effectiveness of the IT architectures.
- A broad, enterprise-wide view of IT and an appreciation for strategy, processes/capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance is a must.
- The ability to apply architectural principles, methods/tools to IT challenges.
- The ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and articulate its collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority IT issues.
- The ability to visualize and create high-level models (rigorous information-rich diagrams) that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the enterprise IT architecture.
- Experience developing and using these high-level models as required to collect, aggregate or disaggregate complex/conflicting information.
- Extensive experience planning and deploying IT initiatives.
- CISSP certification is required
