Sr. Project Manager at Centennial

Job Description

SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of this position is project management for software development initiatives. Projects may include:
•Technical consulting
•Integration of 3rd party applications
•Product implementations
•Course development and consulting
•Academic and eLearning solution implementations
•Internal company initiatives

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•All the project management coordination and communication with the stakeholders:
•Acts as chief communicator
•Communicates with people of all levels within and outside of our organization
•Reads the situation and proposes and develops the right communication plan with each client/project/event
•Tracks and communicates progress and provides detailed status reports on all active projects
•Makes sure all parties have a clear understanding of project status
•Manages internal and external client expectations of project
•Knows when to appropriately escalate and works with management to determine best resolution
•This is a client facing position
•Guards, supports and reports on the team process and progress
•Facilitates team decision-making and team maturity
•Acts as the escalation point for the project team
•Manages both dedicated and matrixed resources
•With support of the project team, creates project charter, project plan, and schedule documents along with milestones and what is required to meet these (time, materials, resources, etc.)
•Organizes, conducts, and attends meetings with project team to create and maintain project backlog by defining clear, attainable objectives and milestones
•Works with project team to determine and refine estimates based on departmental abilities and constraints
•Facilitates project meetings, client walkthroughs and overall acceptance approval of project with client
•Performs risk analysis and develops risk mitigation plan for projects
•Ability to be proactive; ability to quickly assesses situations; make a recommendations and deliver solutions
•Determines and communicates impact of changes and applies change management best practices
•Develops issues resolution plan and proposes to Portfolio Manager, QA Manager and Development Manager to determine best the option
•Maintains a strong partnership with business owners to execute the projects based on business needs or benefits and decisions made at the portfolio level
•Creates and maintains relationships across the organization
•Manages the necessary integration points internally and externally for all stakeholders and project team members
•Works with business owners and Portfolio Manager to determine ROI on program
•Knows industry best practices and how to apply them
•Challenges Professional Services strategic vision and situations relative to goals, values and mission
•Mentors Associate Project Managers and Project Managers
•Enjoys working in a challenging, active environment; brings enthusiasm to the job
•Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
•Bachelors Degree (or equivalent experience) and seven or more years of project management experience in software development
•Experience in Agile/SCRUM project management and  waterfall software development life-cycle is required
•Experience in integration projects and user interface projects is preferred

•Has managed projects in a technical department including managing projects through a complex product release cycle

•Knowledge required in one or more of the following areas: MS Project, Rally, Oracle Projects, easyCMDB
•Strong PC skills including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

This position is located within an office environment and consists of many hours sitting at a computer in a cubical setting.  Travel will be required periodically but is not expected to exceed 25%.
