REQUIRED ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE: Five (5) or more years in an engineering position that directly supported manufacturing or job shop environment. Must be familiar with steel fabrication and machining concepts. A well rounded background with experience in multiple industries and design codes. Experience with ASME pressure vessels is preferred.
SUMMARY: Plans, directs, and coordinates all departmental activities associated with the design, engineering and validation of product while ensuring that project goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, cost parameters and in conformance with the companys quality systems by performing the following duties personally or by managing assigned personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assign, schedule, manage and source engineering resources.
- Author, implement and measure design control procedures, performance of department personnel and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor, verify and approve all engineering output.
- Establish schedules, generate design control plans and determine staffing for the phases of each project and assign department personnel and arrange sub-contracted engineering as needed.
- Confer with project management staff to determine scope of work, outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities and scope of responsibility.
- Direct and coordinate activities of departmental personnel to ensure each project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget.
- Monitor and analyze departmental costs.
- Coordinate activities of department with all other departments to support production requirements.
- Prepare reports, records and correspondence on departmental activities.
- Meet with internal and external customers to facilitate engineering activities, obtain feedback for planning department activities, and determine status of work in progress and customer satisfaction.
- Evaluate, develop and implement procedures and practices for optimum quality, throughput and profitability to achieve company goals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in an engineering field with a minimum of five years of practical experience; or a minimum of seven years experience accompanied with a two-year technical degree. Working knowledge of ASME pressure vessel and piping codes with additional class work in management courses and problem solving techniques is preferred. This position is for our Colorado Springs facility.
