Serve as an Engineer/Planner for the creation and issuance of documentation that authorizes and implements changes including growth, upgrades, retirements, and removals to existing sites on the large IP data network. The primary vehicle for initiating this work will be through a corporate proprietary process which will provide Central Office Engineering with all required details, including major material to be ordered, installation plan, design diagram, and funding codes to charge.
Previously submitted projects will be reviewed and a design created, along with a statement of work (SOW) summarizing the basic job requirements. It is the responsibility of this candidate to take this design and SOW and create an installation plan, detailing the installation steps to the Field Engineer and/or Detail Engineering Vendor.
Position requires interaction with Engineering, Network Installation, Operations, and Vendors.
Candidate must be able to address questions and concerns from the field as issues arise.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Technology with work experience in a technical setting.
* Attention to details with ability to change direction as needed.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Excellent communications skills.
* Understanding of IP Technologies, including routing and switching.
* Ability to understand network drawings and translate them into written installation steps.
* Excellent problem solving skills.
* Must be able to work with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Visio..
