Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. (BHI) is a local non-profit behavioral health organization (BHO) serving Medicaid members in Adams, Arapahoe and Douglas Counties. In anticipation of an upcoming award of a new contract, BHI is seeking a full-time Peer Support Program Manager, who is responsible to develop, facilitate, and manage the Mental Health Institute (MHI) Peer Specialist Program (PSP), leading a team of Peer Support Specialists (PSS), and managing to the terms of the contract with the State of Colorado for Peer Support services with the MHIs located at Fort Logan and Pueblo, CO. The Peer Specialist Program supplements the MHIs multidisciplinary Treatment Team approach by providing lived experience and client-oriented insight through Peer Support Specialists, who assist patients in their stabilization and recovery by providing reassurance, guidance, information, and encouragement through all stages of the recovery process. This position maintains responsibility for leadership, management, and supervision of the PSS team, collaborating with the MHIs.
JOB DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
40% Manage MHI Peer Support Program
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the MHI Peer Specialist Program, managing a team of subordinates in support of the MHI contract and using his/her knowledge of the behavioral health system and available community resources in order to enhance delivery of MHIs client base.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities, in collaboration with the on-site clinical supervision provided by the assigned MHI staff, in accordance with company policies, applicable laws, and the MHI contract including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems; and record keeping. Must meet with each PSS team member at least monthly.
Develop, monitor, update and follow policies and procedures to address peer support issues pursuant to the MHI contract, including but not limited to, policies and procedures for disciplinary action and termination for PSS, relapse prevention and support, managing work hours to comply with any SSI/SSDI benefits being received.
Develop, implement, and manage process for providing initial and recurrent training of PSS required by the MHI contract and approved by the Office of Behavioral Health and the Behavioral Health Transformation Council.
30% Coordination of Services with MHIs
Collaborate with MHI in operational matters, participating in meetings with MHI staff as required, engaging with MHI leaders/staff to resolve issues, review performance, and make appropriate changes to the peers specialist program as the patients needs change or programming options are enhanced.
Participate in MHI committee meetings, as appropriate.
Attend and complete MHI required training for Peer Support Specialists or MHI staff.
30% Contract Performance
Collaborate with MHIs to identify performance measures in accordance with the MHIs trauma-informed care outcomes, and monitor delivery of services through a performance based matrix to demonstrate effectiveness of PSS in achieving improved patient outcomes as identified.
Ensure effective communication and meaningful reporting of performance measures to key stakeholders within Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. (BHI) and the MHIs.
Identify and report to the manager on team activities and issues that may adversely impact the delivery of services under the contract.
Collect, maintain, report, analyze and trend data on performance measures, and data collection methods, to demonstrate effectiveness of PSS in achieving improved patient outcomes as identified within the MHI contract.
Establish, update, disseminate, monitor, and ensure compliance with the MHI contract.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Education: Bachelors Degree in an accepted mental health field, which includes, but is not limited to, counseling, nursing, occupational therapy, psychology, social work, vocational rehabilitation, or activity therapy (required). Masters Degree preferred.
Experience:
a. 2 years of mental health direct care experience, which may include experience in delivering peer support services. (Required)
b. 2 years of management experience preferably in the mental health field. (Required)
c. Experience with mental health issues and recovery. (Required)
d. Experience mentoring people and facilitating groups. (Required)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
a. If have not done so previously, must be able to complete an approved peer specialist supervisor training program within six months of hire. (Required)
b. Peer Specialist Training Certificate that includes the Colorado State Core Competencies. (Required)
c. If have not done so previously, must be able to complete a Wellness and Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Training Course. (Required)
d. Ability to complete required training at the assigned Mental Health Institute. (Required)

Solid ability to follow through on details and ensure completion of obligations in accordance with established procedures. (Required)
