Senior Tax Accountant

The position reports to the Tax Director and will focus on assisting with all federal, state, and foreign income tax matters. This position requires interaction with Corporate Accounting, Legal, International, and other groups within the company.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare corporate, partnership, and foreign tax returns.
  • Work closely with Tax Director to develop high quality automated and referenced work papers.
  • Ensure proper documentation to adequately support tax positions and results.
  • Calculate and prepare estimates and extensions.
  • Calculate and prepare provision-to-return true-ups and differentiate errors from estimates.
• Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions, JEs, and footnotes.
  • Develop knowledge of company entities, business unit divisions, and accounting methods.
  • Develop proficiency in use of company’s GL system.
  • Accurately and efficiently identify, capture, and interpret data affecting income tax provisions and returns.
  • Prepare and maintain Tax Basis Trial Balance (Balance Sheet and Income Statement).
• Assist Tax Director with analysis of income and non-income tax processes, issues, and positions.
  • Ensure company’s tax compliance.
  • Assist with tax audits and respond to tax notices.
  • Evaluate tax positions on a semi-annual basis to determine requirement to reserve.
  • Calculate and document FIN 48 and FAS 5 positions.
  • Respond to non-income tax questions from other departments and groups.
  • Work with Tax Director to identify and implement process improvements.
• Perform and assist with tax research and planning.
  • Seek new areas and opportunities to cultivate tax expertise.
  • Be cognizant of potential tax implications of transactions and changes.
  • Prepare recipient-appropriate responses, memos, and presentations.
  • Keep abreast of developments in tax matters impacting the company.
• Calculate and prepare documentation supporting transfer pricing positions.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting or other four year degree with equivalent Accounting experience.

Years of Experience: 4+ years of corporate income tax experience.

Skills required: Experience preparing corporate income tax provisions and returns and performing tax research required; preparing technical memos, ASC 740 proficiency, and Accounting experience preferred.

Certifications: MS, JD, and/or LL.M. degree and/or CPA license preferred.

Computer Proficiencies: Tax compliance software such as ONESOURCE or ProSystem, and MS Excel, Word, and Power Point required and MS Access preferred.

Percentage of Travel: Occasional travel may be required.

Any additional information: Overtime including weekends may be required.
