Temporary Benefits Analyst at Denver

Benefits Analyst - Provides benefits administration and analytical support for US employee health, welfare and retirement plan benefits. Participates in plan designs and cost analysis for medical plans, insurance and disability, 401(k) and related benefits programs. Partners with vendors on system set-up rules and transmission processes. Manages billing process and performs audits. Develops communication and educational materials, interprets and ensure compliance, and provides support services to HR and employee for resolution of issues. Creates reports, maintains records, and stays abreast of legislation and other influences that affect benefits. Supports wellness initiatives, behavioral health, workers compensation, leave programs. Partners with global HR on expatriate benefit plans and benefits support in other countries.


Essential Duties

  • Meets with vendors to understand options on a variety of employee benefit programs and supports assessment of final recommendations through investigations, analysis and application to company cost strategy to provide optimum employee support
  • Administers variety of US health and welfare plans, insurance, disability and leave programs, 401(k) retirement plan meeting legislative and regulatory compliance and company policy and process requirements
  • Manages billing process with a variety of vendors and performs regular compliance audits; works with external auditors on problem resolution
  • Prepares a variety of informational reports on cost options, enrollment analysis, plan information and other benefits related information to be used in business decisions; researches, gathers, prepares analysis and makes recommendations as needed
  • Administers health and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts, COBRA, MedJet travel insurance, expatriate health insurance plans, paid time off plans, Employee Assistance Program, and other supplemental plans; researches and recommends wellness strategies
  • Prepares drafts of benefits communication and educational materials; interprets benefits policies and procedures and provides guidance and customer service to management and employees to ensure accurate and timely resolution of issues
  • Supports Workers Compensation Program; provides backup to Corporate HR in a variety of support functions including but not limited to on-boarding and separation processes related to employee benefits and HR administration
  • Supports benefits audits in other countries where the company has employees; expands learning of how these plans work to provide general support as needed
  • Skills & Abilities


    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of US government regulations, legislation, taxation and applicability to company provided health care and retirement benefit plans: IRS, DOL, ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FSA, COBRA, Section 125 plans, EAP, defined contribution plans, non-discrimination testing protocols, etc.
    • Deadline oriented, strong organization skills with attention to details, audit and compliance oriented
    • Demonstrated ability to apply research and analytical skills for effective problem resolution; general project management skills
    • Basic knowledge of overall HR core functions and how they relate to benefits
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills including good grammar and ability to write employee communication materials; good interpersonal skills with customer service orientation
    • Ability to comprehend issues and provide advice on complex issues and solutions timely with managers, employees, vendors, and auditors and provide guidance on interpretation of benefits policies, programs and procedures
    • Effective math and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to gather data and compile reports that provide meaningful and logical business conclusions
    • Proficient in using Microsoft Office software products for email, internet research, excel reporting, basic presentations
    • Proficient using HRIS systems and understanding of manager and employee self-service tools; ability to understand and navigate software in the use of benefits information (Lawson HRIS helpful); technically savvy for interacting with IT partners
    • Ability to think strategically and logically to understand impact of benefits on the company and the employees while ensuring legal compliance
    • Desire to learn about and support benefits programs in various countries
     Requirements

    Education

    • Business related college degree preferred

    Specialized Training, Licenses and Certifications

    • Education or training in US Employee Benefits helpful; HR education or training certifications helpful

    Experience

    • Two or more years experience in benefits administration and analytical support; general HR experience preferred
