Job Description

 

Job Title:  Engineering Service Technician

Essential Functions Responsibilities : We are currently seeking a high-energy, self-motivated individual with a proven track record to provide factory service support for a clients core Analytical instruments and accessories that includes troubleshooting a variety of routine to complex problems related to operation, maintenance and calibration of the equipment. Other duties may include; assisting with field service documentation/QOI, and advising the new project teams on support issues during new product releases. Incumbents may be asked to travel occasionally for field service support.

The Factory Service Technician will help provide the necessary support to build out the Aftermarket Platform Center of Excellence COE , directly reporting to the NAM Factory Services Leader. He/she will support all instrument related service activities including parts refurbishment, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, performance testing, customer communications, project assessment, project execution, and telephone customer support.

The Factory Service Technician work schedule is M-F. The normal shift will start between the hours of 7-9 AM and end between the hours of 3-5 PM as determined by the NAM Factory Services Leader. Overtime and/or shift changes may be required as business volume fluctuates, but it should not be routinely expected.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Performing diagnostics testing, enacting repairs, performing test and calibration routines on the instruments to which assigned, observing all applicable safety procedures o Refurbishment of complex parts, assemblies, and instrumentation.  Accurately accounting for all inventory transactions associated with the repair process. Generating customer deliverables, i.e. repair letters, calibration certificates, etc . Collecting payment information and generating shipping and billing paperwork.  Maintaining familiarity with all test and calibration routines required in the service process, as well as procedures for issuing calibration certificates, and perform these routines as needed.

o Providing extensive equipment support and general hardware and software support.

o Keeping up to date with all Quality Operating Instructions QOIs pertaining to this position, including all applicable safety procedures.

o Understanding Installation Qualification, Operating Qualification, Performance Qualification requirements to meet customer requirements and expectations.

o Demonstrating proficiency performing all test and calibration routines required in the service QOIs, as well as procedures for on-site services and Database management.

o Maintaining a clean and organized work space necessary to adhere to EHS standards and optimize work efficiency.

 

 

Qualifications/Requirements:  A.S. in Electrical, Electronic Technology, Mechanical Engineering or other technical discipline.  At least 2 years of plant or maintenance experience, OR at least 2 years of training college, military, technical/vocational school .  Strong technical, mathematical and customer service skills. Cognitive and clear communication skills to efficiently support the service process. General knowledge of electrical equipment, chemistry and safety. Vision, manual dexterity and coordination sufficient to service instruments and handle electrical equipment. Ability to learn applicable company procedures within a reasonable time from start of employment.  A minimum of 1-3 years in an analytical instrument field repair environment.  Must have a minimum of 1-3 years of recent customer service experience, preferably in an analytical instrument field environment.
