Job Description
Johns Manvilles Corporate Accounting and Reporting department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Senior Accountant. The purpose of this position will be to perform general accounting, reporting and analysis; and provide business and staff group support. This position requires the ability to understand multiple processes and analyze large volumes of detailed transactions in a global manufacturing environment. The individual must have the interpersonal skills to complete projects on time in coordination with multiple departments. This individual must also have the skills necessary to interact with various levels of management.
- Analyze and reconcile numerous balance sheet accounts
- Prepare benefit plan financial statements and coordinate audit activities to complete annual DOL/ERISA filings
- Record and prepare quarterly financial statements
- Reconcile and manage multi-currency inter-company accounts
- Analyze and prepare multiple monthly reports including other income, goodwill and gas bank reserves.
- Provide on-going support to risk management department to ensure proper accounting for insurance expense; including preparation of data to support annual insurance renewals
- Prepare journal entries as required in a very complex accounting environment
- Provide support during month-end close and reporting
- Provide support and coordinate additional year-end closing and reporting requirements
- Perform special projects as required
- Demonstrate and ensure a strong customer service commitment within the organization
- Provide on-going support for end users in SAP
- Implement business processes simplification and standardization
Job Requirements
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum 3 years experience
Positive and enthusiastic attitude
Strong Excel skills
Experience with other business applications including Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
Experience with mainframe accounting applications
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Solid organizational skills
Proven analytical skills
Strong decision-making and problem resolution skills
Knowledge of:o GAAPo Cash flowso Financial Reportingo Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:
SAP experience
Multi-currency accounting experience
Manufacturing accounting experience in a large multi-national environment
Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma or similar continuous process improvement methodology certification
Knowledge of IFRS
CPA
