You will serve as a Human Resources Specialist (Military) and guidance counselor assigned to the U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) Battalion located in Denver, Colorado.

As a Human Resources Assistant (Military) and guidance counselor, you will: perform enlistment processing on applicants applying for enlistment into Army and Army reserve, ensuring they meet basic qualifications for enlistment; counsel applicants upon completion of testing and processing, providing recommended courses of action based on results and command emphasis; monitor test results and process future soldiers for discharge if necessary; place future soldiers into training classes and first assignments, and update personnel records.

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: experience applying military HR rules, procedures, and operations to perform administrative duties such as processing enlistment actions, making reservations for applicants, and reviewing military personnel records and documents; experience performing a variety of automated operations and functions such as word processing, database management, and spreadsheet applications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
- Knowledge of Military HR Operations
- Skill Using Automated Systems
- Ability to Communicate
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
