Systems Engineer II at Aurora

Description:


Raytheon is seeking qualified individuals to join a strong team of System Engineers to work on the JPSS Common Ground System . The JPSS Common Ground System is developing a state-of-the-art ground station for the next generation of low earth orbiting environmental satellites. The development of this national asset will provide global coverage to monitor environmental conditions, collect, disseminate and process data about the Earths weather, atmosphere, climate, oceans, land, and near-space environment.


Responsibilities: Provide Systems Engineering support to Interface Data Processing System (IDPS) Requirements and Verification development working on developing solutions for the processing of remote sensing data for distribution to national environmental data users. Perform system engineering use case development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification. Support the definition of operations concepts and procedure planning / development, interfacing with personnel from other organizations. Attend technical interchange meetings with team members and other program personnel. Provide document review and resolves technical systems engineering and integration issues. Support the maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements (system, segment, or subsystem level), external and internal interfaces, and other systems engineering work products/artifacts. Apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve problems. Contribute to the completion of project/program milestones under the general guidance of his/her immediate supervisor. Follow established SE processes and procedures. Review and impact Engineering Change Requests.. Support verification of requirements. Work closely with the local and remote software development teams to determine root cause and verify fixes.


Required:


  • 2+ years of technical engineering experience with a proven track record of increasing responsibilities


  • Strong system engineering, analytical, and problem solving skills


  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills


  • Ability to apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve problems


  • Good written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills


  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical information into understandable pieces


  • Experience establishing and maintaining good working relationship with all levels of the organization, including customers, end users, and other IPTs


  • Ability to assess and prioritize problems and tasks, managing time and resources to meet assigned deadlines


  • Experience with the Microsoft Office tools



    Desired Skills:


  • Experience with satellite ground system data processing and analysis.


  • Familiarity with structured analysis and design methodologies, object-oriented analysis and design methodologies


  • Requirements life-cycle experience from development and design to verification


  • Experience with System Engineering Processes


  • Experience in preparing technical documents


  • Current UNIX or Linux command skills


  • Experience in process improvement, team efficiency and lessons learned


  • Demonstrated ability to quickly come up to speed on technical efforts currently underway


  • Writing and/or modifying MATLAB, PERL scripts and Excel macros



    Education: BS/BA in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Math or 10 years applicable experience in lieu of a degree.
