TheSourcing Specialistis responsible for the sourcing and procurement of store level products and services, as well as ingredients used in the manufacture of purchased products.



Job Requirements

  • Work under the guidance of the Supply Chain Manager to ensuring that purchasing decisions align with overall goals of the organization.
  • Responsible for miscellaneous store level products which could include cream cheese, coffee, meats, bagel ingredients for bagel plants, packaging, smallwares and/or uniforms.
  • Gain and demonstrate knowledge on underlying Commodity Markets to understand how they impact product pricing.
  • Source new items, as needed. Obtain competitive bids for new items. Evaluate vendor qualifications, product specifications, and pricing bids and make cost effective comparisons for best recommendations.
  • Participate in product evaluations with R&D, Marketing, and Operations and recommend potential changes to existing product design and packaging.
  • Conduct effective contract and supply negotiations to ensure lowest cost
  • Perform thorough financial analysis of supplier bids, category and item spend, etc.
  • Perform periodic category reviews, including updating stakeholders on industry and supplier trends
  • Establish, monitor, and update re-order points to assure consistent flow of items during periods of peaks and lows throughout the year.
  • Execute orders for new items on a timely basis, ensuring deadlines are met for product introduction.
  • Effectively coordinate shipments to meet company and department deadlines.
  • Write purchase orders for standard products, as well as new items, as necessary, following RFP and competitive bid process.
  • Participate in planning meetings with various departments on items such as new products, discontinued products, out of stock items, changes in distribution or packaging of a product.
  • Effectively communicate with team and stakeholders regarding how items are selling and any supplier issues at the store level (such as quality and service issues), potential shortages in the market, discontinued items.
  • Maintain vendor communication through phone contact, regular meetings and e-mail
  • Manage effective and productive vendor relationships
  • A/BS Degree in Purchasing or a related discipline preferred; equivalenttraining and experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years purchasing experience in a Retail Multi unit Food Service environment is required.
  • Working knowledge of computer software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
