Job Description
The primary objective of the Supply Chain Department is to support our restaurants by sourcing the highest quality foods and ensuring a sustainable, safe, and cost-effective supply from farm to restaurant. This position is part of a team responsible for Food with Integrity (FWI) which constantly works to source better food. The department is empowered to proactively seek new FWI ideas and to grow the sustainable practices of Chipotle suppliers with increased transparency throughout the supply chain.Working with Food, Beverage, and Packaging team members, the Supply Chain Coordinator supports the category Purchasing Managers and contributes to FWI initiatives that are part of the broader Food, Beverage, and Packaging Programs. He/she is also involved in daily activities related to Food, Beverage, and Packaging supply, cost, and quality.
Responsibilities
In addition to following Chipotles policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Procuring Extraordinary Food & Packaging
Owning and maintaining Chipotles New Supplier Requests (e.g., responding to leads regarding potential new suppliers, assessing whether a supplier is a fit for Chipotle, and communicating results back to internal leadership)
Managing the Supply Chain Information Hub and supplier on-boarding by working with suppliers to assure accurate and timely upload of required documents and information to the supply chain website
Maintaining awareness of market trends and legal requirements affecting assigned categories
Creating, updating, and maintaining Chipotles non-GMO and packaging spec books and obtaining approvals for new item roll outs
Updating and maintaining monthly Packaging category reporting
Providing sourcing for events and concepts as requested by Culinary team, Event Mangers, and Purchasing Managers (e.g., ShopHouse, Cultivate, misc. Marketing events, etc.)
Preparing bid packages and evaluating vendor quotes and services; offering suggestions on most desirable suppliers
Maintaining professional relationships with vendors
Working with our existing food, beverage, and packaging suppliers on a regular basis in order to verify/maintain inventory management system information, respond to restaurant inquiries/issues, and ensure any supply changes are communicated to relevant groups
Working with existing suppliers to examine quality issues and mitigate any supply gaps in the supply chain
Developing and maintaining the Vendor Performance Tracking System by working with QA, Finance, and Customer Service to aggregate and report food quality data using Supplier Scorecards and Supplier Dashboards for access by specific suppliers, Chipotle QA, and business managers
Researching and reporting restaurant alcohol compliance by leveraging Fintech data as well as assisting restaurants interested in establishing craft beer programs
Miscellaneous
Fielding Customer Service, Marketing, and PR inquiries regarding Food, Beverage, and Packaging Programs as well as proactively communicating initiatives to relevant communities
Attending industry functions and seminars to stay current on trends and new products
The ideal candidate will:
Have and be able to articulate a passion for food and be interested in a long-term career in Procurement, including contract negotiations
Be a responsible, directed, dependable, self-starter with a can-do attitude, boundless energy, and a thirst for constant improvement
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills as well as time management proficiency
Work well in a team environment
Have the ability to execute projects independently
Have the ability to use a PC and utilize Excel, Word, and other software necessary for data entry and reporting
Have strong analytical skills and be able to collect and clearly analyze data and report research results
Thrive in a fast-moving environment and be able to travel occasionally to our supplier community
Have a B.S./B.A. in a related field with one (1) to three (3) years experience in Procurement, Food Systems, Sustainability, or land-stewardship; or an equivalent in education and experience
