JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position reports to the SCLHS Senior Director of Hospital Accounting. The position provides direct operational oversight and supervision to the accounting for operations of designated hospitals, as well as other general accounting processes. The position reviews and prepares journal entries and other financial records of original entry and reconciliations to ensure general ledger and financial reporting integrity. The position also prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting deliverables.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervision of fiveto seven accounting staff.
  • Review/approval of manual journal entries.
  • Review/approval of bank reconciliations, balance sheet account analysis and other allied accounting records to ensure data integrity and documentary evidence.
  • Ensure compliance of organizational wide accounting policies and procedures; intervenes as required.
  • Assist hospital management with understanding their financial results and resolving related transactional issues.
  • Preparation of journal entries consistent with accurate GAAP financial reporting.
  • Review and evaluation of encountered financial transactions and reports for data integrity and policy/procedural compliance.
  • Preparation of balance sheet and income statement account analysis to ensure adequate documentary evidence and financial transactional integrity.
  • Review of monthly financial packages.
  • Preparation and review of IRS Form 990 informational returns.
  • Preparation and review of financial statements and footnotes for annual reporting for the Company and its benefit plans.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in accounting and five years of progressive related experience, including supervisory experience required. Advanced business administration degree (MBA), or certified public accountant (CPA) required. Healthcare provider and/or non-profit industry experience preferred. Experience with the Lawson general ledger system preferred.
