Fort Carson is the home of the 4th Infantry Division, the 10th Special Forces Group, the 71st Ordnance Group (EOD), the 4th Engineer Battalion, the 759th Military Police Battalion, the 10th Combat Support Hospital, the 43rd Sustainment Brigade, and the 13th Air Support Operations Squadron of the United States Air Force. Specific to this position –

 

ICU Nurses shall have a minimum of two years critical care experience within the last five (5) years.  Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is mandatory for the ICU.  Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) and Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) are highly recommended certifications for this area of care.

 

General Requirements for all RNs

 

• Each Registered Nurse shall have sufficient experience to be able to adequately perform the specific tasks identified in this work statement.  Nursing personnel provided by the contractor shall be subject to the same quality assurance standards as those required for comparable military or government civilian nurses. The specific qualifications for each nurse requirement are as follows:

 

• All Registered Nurses shall have successfully completed an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university; and/or a graduate of an accredited National League of Nursing (NLN) School.  A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is highly recommended.

 

• Each Registered Nurse must have current and valid state license (with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions) to practice as a Registered Nurse from one of the 50 states. 

 

• Each Registered Nurse must have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) by the American Heart Association.  In addition, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); and certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program are required for nurses working in the Labor and Delivery unit.  Nurses working in the Same Day Surgery/PACU are required to have BCLS and ACLS.  Nurses will be required to care for the full age spectrum of patients (infants through adult) in all of the named patient care areas.

 

• All nurses must have completed a competency-based orientation program and maintain specific skills with certification and other written skill verification documented in their Competency Files for the primary patient care unit assigned. 

 

• Each Registered Nurse must have knowledge and skills to record and maintain accurate records and prepare reports and ability to utilize computer data system in these processes.

 

• Each Registered Nurse shall have knowledge and skills of basic nursing practices including emergency cardiac arrest (CPR) procedures.  Operation of defibrillator, crash cart equipment, cardiac monitoring, cardioverter, and suction apparatus, intravenous injections.
