Job Description

LOCAL DELIVERY – HOME DAILY

 

Operates a tractor trailer (3-axle tractor/48 foot refer) that transports cargo to and from specified and multiple destinations. Prepares, receives and provides appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick up of goods to ensure timely service. Loads, secures and unloads cargo.

 

 

- Maintains radio or telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick up.

- Maintains logs of travel and cargo according to federal and state regulations.

- Collect payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.

- Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.

- Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.

- Performs emergency roadside repairs such as, installing light bulbs and tire chains.

- Other duties as assigned 

Job Requirements

- Current and active license to be operating a truck (Class A).

- Must have a "satisfactory" driving record.

- At least one year of driving experience.

- Must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds.

- Have ability to perform basic arithmetic and handle money transactions.

- Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

- Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
