Job Description

Raytheon is seeking an Engineering Leader to join our distinguished team on the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS) SEIT Systems Engineering Team. The JPSS Common Ground System is developing a state-of-the-art ground station for the next generation of low earth orbiting environmental satellites. The development of this national asset will provide global coverage to monitor environmental conditions, collect, disseminate and process data about the Earths weather, atmosphere, climate, oceans, land and near-space environment.

This position is for a Systems Engineer with a strong Security Engineering background and who will become part of the IDPS Security Engineering team. He/she will develop and deliver secure systems including providing technical direction and clarification of security requirements to software development teams and test personnel. To help in this area a background in software development is also desired. He/she will conduct engineering analyses including trade studies and security risk assessments, security tool development, use case development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition and requirement validation and verification and will participate in or lead the security hardening activities for IDPS. In addition, this Systems Engineer will support development of documents including Security design documentation, Security Tool Training, Risk Analysis Reports, and System Security Test and Evaluation plans, procedures, and reports.

Required Skills:

4 years applicable experience
in Computers, Networks or Systems Engineering

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills

Experience working in a team environment

Experience in designing, documenting and accrediting secure information systems to meet DoDI 8500.2, DIACAP, DCID 6/3 or NIST 800-53 requirements

Ability to obtain GSEC, Security+ or CISSP certification within 1 year of employment

Desired Skills:

Experience with requirements development

Experience with interpreting interface definitions and documents (ICDs)

Experience with requirements verification and validation

Experience in Information Systems Security Engineering

Experience in implementing DISA STIGS to secure COTS products, network devices, operating systems and databases

Experience in security implementations such as PKI, LDAP, security auditing and cross domain solutions

Experience in implementing secure protocols and other security best practices with network and computer systems.

Experience in secure coding principles

Experience in Redhat Linux and Windows (2000/2003/XP) operating systems

Experience in or understanding of C++ and JAVA Programming languages

Experience in Tripwire, PKI certificates, CAC cards and readers, and various scripting languages

Experience in software and database design, development and test

Experience with satellite ground systems operations including command, control and communications and data processing systems

Experience in conducting security testing

Experience in developing operational procedures

SEC, Security+ or CISSP certification

Required Education (including Major): BS in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Math or Physics
