About the Position:
You will serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Military/OA) in a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), providing administrative support to the Reception-Administration Control Desk (RACD), Record Maintenance & Accountability, and Enlistment Processing.

You will greet and account for visitors and applicants in and out of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), administering briefings to applicants and personnel on MEPS procedures; question applicants to obtain data required for entry into the military service, gathering information which would bear on suitability for enlistment; fingerprint applicants using automated systems, and transmit fingerprints to the investigating agency; screen and file applicant records; transcribe data from numerous source documents; maintain records of orders and enlistment contracts; and assist other sections at the MEPS when required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Back to topTo qualify, applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:
Specialized experience: To qualify, applicants must possess experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-04). Specialized experience is defined as: experience using a personal computer or computer terminal for word processing and database management; experience questioning applicants to obtain and verify data; experience with entering information into an automated personnel system; knowledge of military personnel work.
OR
Education: To qualify, applicants must possess a bachelors degree, or have completed 4 years above the high school level. Education must have been completed at an accredited institution. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: To qualify, applicants must possess a combination of education and specialized experience that totals at least 100% of the above requirements. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
- Competency in Customer Service
- Ability to Use Automated Systems
- Skill in Applying a Standardized Body of Rules
- Knowledge of Entrance Processing Regulations
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.
Time in Grade Restriction: Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-04 grade (or equivalent).

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
A qualified typist is required. You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
