About the Position: This Monitoring Systems Operator/Mechanic position is located with the Pueblo Chemical Depot and is responsible for installing and operating air monitoring systems in support of toxic chemical operations and chemical ammunition field operations. Pueblo is located in southern Colorado along the southern edge of the states major growth corridor. Pueblo is known for its historic transportation junction. The city lies 120 miles south of Denver at the crossroads of two major highways, I-25 and US Hwy 50, PCD is east of Pueblo City. PCD has a very diverse work force that has performed for over 70 years to support soldiers.
As a result of sequestration and budget shortfalls, Army is furloughing most of its employees for some amount of time during fiscal year 2013. An employee in this position MAY be subject to furlough. If applicable, specific information regarding the administrative furlough will be provided to the individual selected for this position.

In this position you will serve as a Monitoring Systems Operator/Mechanic for Pueblo Chemical Depot, installing, operating, testing, calibrating, and repairing complex air and agent monitoring equipment to include the Real Time Analytical Platform (RTAP), MINICAMS, and MINICAMS Mini-Link computer systems.

Physical effort:

May work for sustained periods in a mobile laboratory or the confines of a monitoring shelter.

Works indoors and outdoors, and is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. Works for a substantial portion of time in dangerous proximity to operations and areas where permanent disability or death could occur as a result of exposure to lethal toxic chemicals or detonation of explosives. Incumbent and supervisor insure that adequate precautions have been taken to reduce the risk to the lowest known level. Wears protective equipment such as rubber apron, gloves, gas mask, etc., as required.
