POSITION Reporting directly to the MSD SIS Manager, the Engineering Safety Integration Specialist is an important part of the Assessment Team and is responsible for providing on-site machine safeguarding assessments of customer?s production machinery and recommending safeguarding solutions that are commensurate with the applicable standards and indentified risk. To travel and the ability to work from your home. RESPONSIBILITIES The Engineering Safety Integration Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of the safeguarding assessment process. Those responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ? Perform machine and process safeguarding compliance audits (machine safeguarding assessment/risk reduction reviews) to determine level of compliance with local, state, federal and corporate regulations and applicable consensus standards. ? Prepare, deliver and present reports, analysis and quotations of proposed risk reduction systems to prospective customers. ? Design and specify machine safety system solutions that are accurate and comply with relevant standards and regulations. Position Description ? Develop and conduct training and presentations on capabilities, products, and regulatory and best practice safety standards, including machine safeguarding training programs for customers. ? Communicate with integration installation teams to ensure that information gathered during the evaluation is usable in preparing for projects (BOM?s, tools, manpower, guarding methods, etc.). ? Complete, maintain, and process pertinent paperwork, reports and records as required in a timely manner (timesheets, service and expense reports, etc.). ? Perform functions to include re-designing and creating safety circuits and interface controls for safety products (new safety controls will be required to interface to existing machine and process line control systems) on equipment that has no documentation. ? Redesign of existing control systems in order to incorporate control reliability, new functions, and/or circuits. ? Modify software programs as needed in PLC?s, safety relay?s and other safety devices (scanners, etc.) ? Perform and document machine ?Stop Time Measurements? when required. ? Other duties and functions may be assigned. SKILLS, BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE ? Has worked in a manufacturing environment with responsibilities for ensuring machinery safety, productivity, and applications of industrial machines and process lines. ? Has worked in a manufacturing environment with responsibilities in engineering electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls and circuitry. ? Has been in a prior position that required the use and knowledge of applicable industrial machinery safety standards (OSHA, ANSI, CSA, EN, ISO, etc.) ? Experience with control reliability and other applicable machine & process safety standards (OSHA, ANSI, RIA, etc.) ? Has experience in conducting training, technical product support, and presentations on capabilities, products and operational effectiveness of manufacturing machinery. ? The ideal candidate would be responsible for working with additional professionals in engineering, manufacturing, sales, and field installers. ? Has successfully written technical manuals or other operating procedures in a manufacturing environment. ? Strong analytical skills and the ability to convert identified needs into product solutions as well as strategies into executable actions. Examples required. ? Strong written and verbal skills. ? Ability to gather, retain and share information. ? Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. ? Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. ? Computer skills with knowledge of all MS Office applications, PLC programming, HMI development Software, and AutoCAD platforms. Possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. ? Strong experience of electrical and mechanical concepts with the ability to read and understand both electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings. ? The ideal candidate will have had responsibilities for applying and documenting application standards for a variety of manufacturing machinery. ? The ideal candidate will have a background in applying, working with and installing safeguarding products on industrial equipment. ? Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. ? Requires experience in machine electrical design, troubleshooting. ? Has had sales or technical sales experience in the automation or safety industry. REQUIREMENTS ? Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. ? Clean driving record and current driver?s license. ? Technical Degree (preferred ? not required). ? Possess certifications such as E H & S Certificates, OSHA training class, etc/ (preferred but not required).
