Enterprise Windows Infrastructure Architect at Colorado Springs

Job Description

BPS is seeking an Enterprise Windows Infrastructure Architect to support the JRDC contract based at Schriever AFB, CO . 


Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for the architectural direction of a large geographically-dispersed Windows and Exchange network for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
  • Duties include architecting tools, processes, artifacts and methods in support of enterprise integration and prudent evolution (capacity, new capabilities, supportability, re-use, etc.).
  • Will evaluate, approve and oversee, architectural changes to meet current and future system requirements.
  • Will also provide 3rd level engineering support to the many Windows and Exchange customers (classified and unclassified) comprising the MDA enterprise.
  • Will perform research and development including requirements analysis, technology maturity assessment, alignment and traceability, and recommended technological improvements (e.g., innovation) to the MDA enterprise.
  • Will instill rigor and discipline across the team in guiding decision analysis/trade studies to fulfill short term and long term objectives for the MDA IT Enterprise.
  • Will effectively combine strategy, vision, processes/procedures, and technology advancements into a strategic technological roadmap for the MDA that will enable enterprise progression, evolution, and future stability.
  • Will ensure consistency with DoD CIO, DoD EIA, other high level architectural direction, as well as commercial best practices.
  • Assist with improving existing processes and tools for architecture and engineering activities related to the design and implementation of current and future technologies. 

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:  

  • Masters degree in related discipline with at least 20 years of professional experience in the design of Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft Exchange.
  • Excellent proven interpersonal, presentation and communication (written and oral) skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and propensity to mentor junior to mid-career engineers, build teamwork, and leverage information sharing and knowledge management tools.
  • Experience working within a large multi-disciplined team and leading small to mid-sized diverse technical teams.
  • Proven leadership in defining, resourcing, directing, and measuring 3rd party contractor and vendor support.
  • The successful candidate must be process oriented.
  • The candidate must have an MCSE or equivalent Microsoft Certification on Directory Services and Exchange applications.
  • The candidate must also be a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and an Information System Security Professional (ISSAP).
  • The selectee will be comfortable and adaptable/flexible to a very dynamic high operations tempo environment, and able to manage and execute multiple concurrent activities (multi-tasking and prioritization).
  • The candidate is expected to be a self-starter, organized, and both task and people oriented.
  • The selectee will be able to fill in as the Architecture Team Lead, when needed.
  • Minimum: Must be a US citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.


Preferred Requirements: 

  • Strong knowledge of storage and virtualization technologies is a plus.
  • Experience with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) or the closely related MoDAF, other architecture frameworks and artifact repositories, toward enterprise integration, interoperability, and making/ capturing design decisions and baselines (e.g., as is and to be).
  • A working knowledge of the IT Service Lifecycle and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is preferred.
