This position is created as a part of new ABB Mining Service business development in the South-Western US.The primary focus will be on technical after-sales service support of ABB mineral grinding mill electric drive and control systems installed and operated at local mining and mineral processing facilities.
Focus on technical after-sales service support of ABB mineral grinding mill electric drive and control systems installed and operated at local mining and mineral processing facilities.Scope of services includes:Commissioning of equipment at site as a part of greenfield and upgrade projects;Performing factory and site acceptance tests;Troubleshooting and repair of installed equipment, both planned and emergency-based;Planned equipment condition audits and maintenance activities at customer sites;On-demand technical support at customer sites;Remote technical support via telephone, as well as using advanced internet-based equipment diagnostic and condition monitoring technologies;Training of customer personnel, both at site and at ABB offices as required.Scope of equipment includes:Low- and medium voltage electric motors of various types, typically in MW power range;Low- and medium voltage variable frequency drives, stand alone and in system arrangement;Drive duty and power distribution transformers;Motor control centersDrive control systems and PLC systemsDistributed control systems;Auxiliary and HVAC systems.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering.3 years of relevant experience in the field of industrial projects.Flexibility to travel within North America and internationally at least 80% of the time is required.Preferred QualificationsMasters degree in Electrical Engineering5 Years of relevant experience in the field of industrial projects.English proficiency, both verbal and written is required;Site supervision, knowledge of mining, drive & control systems are definite assets;Knowledge of the electrical standards (ANSI, CSA, IEC, ATEX, others) is preferred;Professional engineering association membership is a plus;Strong interpersonal skills when communicating with customers and co-workers are important;Self-starter, motivated, positive outlook, ability to work with minimal supervision are key qualities for this role.
